Virtual visits utilize our myACPNY patient portal to establish a video conference between you and your provider. You can see your primary care provider face-to-face from the comfort of your home using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. If necessary, prescriptions can be sent directly to your pharmacy. The virtual connection is secure, so your information is kept private.

You can use virtual visits if you meet the following requirements:

  • You are an EmblemHealth member in an HMO Commercial or HMO Medicaid plan.
  • Your AdvantageCare Physicians primary care provider practices at one of the following offices:
    • Babylon Medical Office
    • Cambria Heights Medical Office
    • Forest Hills Medical Office
    • Ronkonkoma Medical Office
Can I do a virtual visit from anywhere, even when traveling? ›

No. You must be in the State of NY when your virtual visit is taking place.

Who will perform my initial virtual visit? ›

Your virtual visit will be performed by your primary care provider. In the future, we will expand virtual visit capabilities to your care team nurse.

Are virtual visits safe? ›

Yes. We follow the latest technical standards and clinical practice guidelines to ensure virtual visits are HIPAA compliant and confidential.We will not record or store any audio or video from your visit.

How much does a virtual visit cost? ›

There are no additional charges for a virtual visit. Copayments are the same for an office visit and virtual visit.

Will I be charged if I don’t complete the virtual visit? ›

No. You will not be charged if you do not connect with your physician over the virtual visit.

Yes. Family members, legal guardians, and designated caretakers can participate in virtual visits.

Can all my visits be virtual? ›

Some appointment types, such as your annual wellness visit, require a physical examination, which must be done in person. We do not offer virtual visits for hospital follow-ups, medical clearances, or to fill out forms. Speak to your provider about recommendations for virtual visits. If you are sick, please call the office for a same- or next-day appointment. Virtual visits are not intended for emergency medical care. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

What happens if I am late? ›

Your provider will wait five minutes for you to connect to your virtual visit. If you are more than five minutes late, you will be asked to reschedule the appointment.

Can new patients use virtual visits? ›

No. We don’t offer virtual visits for new patients, or for your annual wellness exams. Please see question 2 for a list of visit types that can be virtual.

What are the technical requirements and considerations for virtual visits? ›

    - You must have an active myACPNY account. appointment types requiring physical examination, such as your annual wellness exam and a medical clearance, must be done in person. Speak to your provider about recommendations for virtual visits.
  • Equipment
    - You must have a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with the required internet, audio, and video capabilities.
  • Internet browser
    - Virtual visits in myACPNY work best using Internet Explorer
  • Vidyo plugin and installation
    - The Vidyo plugin is a third-party software that enables video chat between you and your provider. You will be instructed to download the most recent version before your virtual visit if you do not have it installed.
  • Testing the system
    - We recommend you test the system up to 24 hours before your virtual visit. You can also connect up to 30 minutes before the start of your virtual visit.
