How does a virtual visit work? ›

Virtual visits utilize our myACPNY patient portal to establish a video conference between you and your provider. You can see your primary care provider face to face from the comfort of your home using your phone, tablet, or computer. If necessary, prescriptions can be sent directly to a your pharmacy. Information is kept private and the connection is secure and HIPAA compliant.

What conditions will a virtual visit cover? ›

Who can use virtual visits? ›

You can use virtual visits if you:

  • Have EmblemHealth HMO insurance and reside in New York State

Your virtual visit will be performed by your primary care provider. In the future, we will expand virtual visit capabilities to your care team nurse.

Yes. We follow the latest technical standards and clinical practice guidelines to ensure virtual visits are HIPAA compliant and confidential.

How much does a virtual visit cost? ›

You will not need to pay additional charges for using myACPNY virtual visits. Copayments are the same for an office visit and virtual visit.

Will I be charged if I don’t complete the virtual visit? ›

You will not be charged if you do not connect with your physician over the virtual visit.

What internet browser should I use? ›

Virtual visits in myACPNY work best on Internet Explorer (version 11 or higher).

Can my family member participate in the video visit? ›

Yes, family members, legal guardians, and designated care takers can participate in virtual visits.

When should I test the system? ›

We recommend you test the system up to 24 hours before your virtual visit. You can also connect up to 30 minutes before the start of your virtual visit.

What is the Vidyo Plugin? How do I install it? ›

The Vidyo Plugin is software that enables video chat between you and your provider. You will be instructed to download the most recent version before your virtual visit if you do not have it installed.

Why are you offering virtual visits? ›

AdvantageCare Physicians is now offering virtual visits to reduce wait times and provide a more convenient option for appointments that don’t require physical examination.

Can all my visits be virtual? ›

No, appointment types requiring physical examination, such as your annual wellness exam and a medical clearance, must be done in person. Speak to your provider about recommendations for virtual visits.

Can I use a virtual visit if I’m sick? ›

No, if you are sick, please call the office for a same or next day appointment. Virtual visits are not intended for emergency medical care. If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

What will happen if I am late? ›

You can be up to five minutes late to your virtual visit. If you are more than five minutes late you will be asked to reschedule the appointment.

Can new patients use virtual visits? ›

Not at the moment, we currently don’t offer virtual visits for new patients, annual wellness exams, hospital follow ups, medical clearances, or to fill out forms. Please see question 2 for a list of visit types that can be virtual.
