Nurse Practitioners and Their Important Role in Care

01/13/2020

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) play a key role in your health care team. They provide many types of care you may have believed only physicians could deliver. In fact, they are trained and licensed to:

  • Diagnose and treat diseases and manage chronic illnesses
  • Prescribe medications
  • Order appropriate laboratory, radiological, and special exams or tests, and interpret the results
  • Provide preventive health services, including health education and counseling

The AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY) care model pairs patients with a Primary Care Provider (PCP) to ensure focused, coordinated care and ongoing management of overall health. Your PCP may be a physician or an NP, who can provide even more options for available appointments that meet your busy schedule. Patients with NPs as Care Team leads are assured quality care by a provider who gets to know them and sees their total health picture.

At ACPNY, we care for the whole you. That means understanding the physical, mental, and lifestyle factors that impact your overall health. If you’re interested in knowing more about the NPs at your closest ACPNY office, and perhaps even choosing one as your PCP, call 646-680-4227.
