Importance of Childhood Vaccinations

At AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY), we’re committed to keeping our communities healthy, and vaccinating your children is one of the easiest ways you can do your part in this important effort that impacts us all. Because of the misinformation that continues to circulate around the safety and efficacy of vaccines, we want to make sure that all our patients have the facts around this important piece of public health.

Why Should My Child Be Vaccinated?

Vaccines are critical to both individual and community health because they protect us from serious diseases like measles, hepatitis, and polio. This is especially true for our most vulnerable—medical research has shown that delaying vaccines can leave children, the elderly, those with immune disorders, and infants at risk of serious disease, and can also endanger others in the community. We strongly encourage all our patients—and especially children—to join ACPNY’s Immunity Community.

In addition to the long-term vaccinations needed to keep your kids healthy, it’s also critical that children six months or older receive an annual flu shot. While it’s important that everyone get their flu shot, it is particularly important for your kids. Children under 5—and especially those under 2—are at high risk of developing serious complications from the flu, so getting them vaccinated goes hand in hand with keeping them safe. You can learn more about the importance of getting your annual flu shot here.

Our Approach to Vaccinations

At ACPNY, we accept the medical consensus that vaccines are both safe and effective. And, we expect our pediatric patients to receive vaccinations according to the CDC's Immunization Schedule for Infants and Children. We also conveniently offer 24/7 access to vaccination records through the myACPNY app, so you can always feel confident that your child is up to date on their care.

We understand and respect that parents in our practice want to protect their children, and completely share that goal. We are happy to discuss any questions and concerns you may have, because we value open and honest communication about the health of your family.
