To Address Latest Uptick in COVID Infections Rates in NYC: AdvantageCare Physicians’ New Partnership with NYS Increases Testing Capacity in Hotspots

Following the recent surge in COVID-19 infections in Brooklyn and Queens, AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY) and Gov. Cuomo have once again teamed up as part of the Governor’s Cluster Action Initiative to provide additional testing sites in targeted communities.

“ACPNY continues to fight the COVID-19 crisis head on by providing direct testing and treatment, while addressing testing disparities and combatting chronic illnesses that put patients at even greater risk,” said Dr. Navarra Rodriguez, President and Chief Medical Officer at ACPNY. “At ACPNY, we know the important role primary care plays in keeping our communities healthy and out of the hospital when they don’t need to be there. We appreciate Governor Cuomo recognizing the importance of local providers and care teams, like ACPNY, to increase testing and outreach in our neighborhoods—especially in low-income and minority communities that continue to be at higher risk.”

As a provider practice committed to quickly meeting the needs of our communities to keep patients healthy, ACPNY is addressing a COVID-19 surge, in addition to protecting against the flu, while also engaging with patients on the importance of primary and specialty care. "This is what keeps communities safe and improves health outcomes," added Dr. Rodriguez.

In the spring, ACPNY stepped up to partner with the City and State to expand COVID-19 testing in New York’s hardest hit communities at more than 20 locations. Our continued efforts have helped to keep these communities safe and kept the infection rates down across New York City.

This week, the Governor announced the NYS Cluster Action Initiative to address COVID-19 hot spots that have developed in Brooklyn and Queens. ACPNY is stepping up again to help stop the spread of the virus by increasing access to rapid community testing starting Friday, October 9th at the following sites:

Over the next week, these sites will see an increased amount of patients seeking COVID-19 testing. Given this most recent partnership, our locations will be ready. Rapid Point-of-Care Testing will be prioritized for all patients seeking testing at these sites. To support this, the State is supplying these sites with additional Abbott Alere testing machines, test kits, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
