Behavioral Health

During group therapy, two women listen attentively as a third, unrecognizable woman speaks.

Behavioral health focuses on how our actions are linked to our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. At AdvantageCare Physicians, our behavioral health specialists are a part of your Care Team and work collaboratively with your Primary Care Provider to support your overall health. They provide support for a number of challenges, including:

  • Depression and other mood disturbances, such as Bipolar Disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Adjustment to life changes and losses
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Coping with illness, chronic pain and other medical conditions
  • Alcohol and substance abuse, or other addiction problems such as gambling, shopping, internet use, or sexual activity
  • Other mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, etc.

Behavioral health concerns often arise from significant, sudden, or uncontrollable life changes, such as transitions at work or at home, health issues, financial troubles, or the loss of a loved one. Our behavioral health team works with patients to overcome these challenges with a variety of treatments, including:

  • Individual psychotherapy- counseling provided by behavioral health providers who are licensed clinical social workers.
  • Additional services, including specialty care, more focused mental health treatment, or other behavioral health services such as group therapy, family therapy, or other interventions specific to your conditions.

Behavioral health problems are common, and patients should not feel embarrassed or ashamed to seek help. Speak with your provider about a referral.
