EmblemHealth’s ACPNY surpasses critical mark in effort to administer vaccines to hard-hit New York communities

NEW YORK – Today, AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY), one of the largest primary and specialty care medical practices in New York City, announced the successful administration of over 40,000 COVID-19 vaccinations across New York during the last three months. The 40,000th vaccine dose was administered at ACPNY’s medical office in Downtown Brooklyn, which serves the borough’s diverse population of essential workers and communities of color in the surrounding neighborhoods.

"This milestone number of vaccinations comes from the hard work and cooperation of our incredible team members in partnership with the city and state," said Karen Ignagni, President and Chief Executive Officer of EmblemHealth, ACPNY’s parent organization. "We are pleased that our vaccine distribution efforts have been so successful and look forward to getting as many New Yorkers vaccinated as possible as we continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our communities."

ACPNY began distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in January, and over the last three months the community-based medical practice has established 12 vaccination hubs in key areas throughout New York, including locations in Brooklyn, Harlem, and Queens.

"ACPNY is one of the most successful community-based provider models for vaccination efforts in New York City," said Dr. Navarra Rodriguez, Chief Medical Officer of ACPNY. "We are continuing to prioritize proactive outreach to our patients and members of underserved communities to address vaccine hesitancy, increase access and help bring back a sense of normalcy to New Yorkers."

In addition to administering vaccines to help keep communities and New Yorkers safe, ACPNY has implemented the following efforts to address vaccine hesitancy:

  • Provided education resources through online platforms and made information accessible in medical offices.
  • Conducted outreach through phone calls and during medical visits for eligible patients.
  • Facilitated vaccine coordination for seniors in order to address technology challenges.
  • Partnered with community leaders and local elected officials to reach eligible populations and proactively schedule vaccine appointments.

ACPNY will continue these efforts and expand outreach to underserved communities as the COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues. For more information on ACPNY's vaccination efforts, visit their website.
