Summer is winding down and a new school year is just around the corner, but school isn’t the only thing you need to prepare for…flu season is upon us. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The simplest and most effective way to protect yourself, your family, and your friends from the virus is to get your flu shot – sooner rather than later.
That’s why AdvantageCare Physicians created a group to encourage New Yorkers to get vaccinated and take other essential steps to protect themselves, and those around them, from contagious illnesses – we call it: Immunity Community.
Why should I join the Immunity Community?
It’s simple: the more people who are protected against illnesses like the flu, the less people are at-risk of catching it. And, with school starting in just a few weeks, it’s especially important to get your kids (and yourself) vaccinated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children under the age of five have a very high risk of catching the flu and spreading the virus to other children, caretakers, and family members.
How do I join?
ACPNY is committed to ensuring that all of its patients are vaccinated against the flu, so we’re making it convenient to schedule an appointment. All you have to do to become part of the Immunity Community is get your flu shot at any one of our locations throughout the New York City boroughs. Schedule your appointment today!
